The Oregon/Brooklyn Lions Club exists to serve our community and our neighbors around the world.
The Oregon/Brooklyn Lions Club was chartered in 1980. We are a club that have a special interest in service. The club is a part of Lions Clubs International which is a service organization that has Preservation of Sight and Preservation of Hearing as major national service goals. Formed in 1917, Lions were challenged by Helen Keller to be “…Knights of the Blind…”.
Since that time, Lions have recognized that diabetes is a major cause of blindness in the world, and has added Diabetes Education and Research as national projects.
Nuts!
Oregon/Brooklyn Lions will be doing free children's vision screenings at the Oregon Library on the 2nd Saturday, 10am-12pm.
Operation Joy
Toy and Gift Card Drive
The Oregon/Brooklyn Lions club held their second annual Operation Joy Toy Drive, December 17. The Oregon Police Department assisted with getting donation bins placed in the community. They also were able to purchase toys for this project. In total the Police Department made three trips to bring the toys to our location. The Oregon Headliners 4-H club donated over $700 in toys and gift cards. The Oregon Optimist donated $1100 for us to purchase gifts cards and toys. Over 173 kids had gifts to open on Christmas Day. This is what "in partnership" can do.
